I went out and bought a thing... A LUV thing....
So I went and bought a 1979 Chevy LUV. AKA the Isuzu Faster/Pup. It’s pretty much stock (sans a very non-functional roll bar, and some other odds and ends. Has a mean 1.8L I4 that screams like a banshee... Because the prev. owner straight piped it... In other words it’s going to be getting a bit more of an exhaust in the near future.
Of course the first thing I did after buying it was bring it down to a more reasonable height (pictured above). Overall it was a 4" drop (w/ a 3° pinion angle correction) in the rear and then just cranked down the torsion bar in the front to drop it about 3.5".
Overall the thing’s been an absolute blast to drive. It’s laughably impractical/ridiculous and I couldn’t be happier! Last picture is how it sat when I bought it.

Obligatory, I just LUV it, can you imagine Chevy giving a truck a cutesy name like that today? The 70s era minitrucks are just fantastic little pieces of US truck history, I forgot about the P'up.

Light Utility Vehicle.
Friend in high school had a powder blue luv, and it was comically basic. Stamped metal? I didn’t know but it worked well.

Old school minitrucks are just a blast. So much character in such a small frame.

I’m definitely tempted to start thinking about a bike/ruckus style complementary piece for the truck. Wallet is gonna need some recovery time after the next few LUV mods though

Daaamn that looks sweet. I want a little truck like this to throw mountain bikes and kayaks in the back. I’d lower it just like you have and swap in some sort of fuel injected engine for reliability.

Your lights are on, but you’re not home
Your mind is not your own
Your heart sweats, your body shakes
Another drive
is what it takes
You can’t sleep, you can’t eat
There’s no doubt, you’re in deep
Your throat is tight, you can’t breathe
Another drive
is all you need
Whoa, you like to think that you’re immune to the stuff, oh yeah
It’s closer to the truth to say you can’t get enough
You know you’re gonna have to face it, you’re addicted to
LUV!

Ooh, pretty. Knowing nothing about these engines, I assume that vertical port on the top of the intake manifold is for coolant?
